Iran’s fundamentalist government has created a state based on the strictest political, cultural and religious codes. There are no elections, free speech nor effective political opposition. The legal process is stagnant, more than half the population lives under the poverty line.

Iran’s draconian judicial system sanctions sentences of stoning, flogging, amputation of limbs and public execution. There are 30,000 political prisoners, many convicted without a fair trial.

Women are denied equal opportunities in educational, professional and legal spheres. The government has enforced a system of segregation on women including second-class legal status, mandatory veiling, lashing and stoning to death. In Tehran alone there are 84,000 prostitutes. Thousands of whom have been sold into sexual slavery abroad as part of a global sex trafficking industry in which government officials themselves are involved.

Iran was considered the most active state sponsor of terrorism in 2003 with investigations showing approximately $75 million allocated annually for terrorist activities. Iran actively funded the 9/11 World Trade Centre attacks and suicide operations in Iraq . They continue to actively fund a number of violent groups today including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and the oppressive Sudanese regime.

According to U.S. estimates, Iran may have a stockpile of at least several thousand metric tons of weaponry and bulk chemical agents. In fact, they are currently in the advanced stages of developing biological weaponry including Ricin, smallpox and anthrax.
